The book started off with a poor college kid lamenting his current situation. For example, he hadn’t showered, and was running out of food, and had a lot of homework, and his dorm had no heat. He got a call from his mom with her insisting he travel to her house in order to celebrate the birthday of his younger brother. He said no, can’t do that because I have homework and stuff that needs to be done. His brother was sad when the main character said that.

He ended the call, and started trying to do his homework. But then he was suddenly sucked into his computer. He had to create a character, and then he had to choose his alignment. He chose Lawful Evil, and he then had to fight wolves with two of the people who lived next to him in the real world. He traveled into a dungeon, and ended up releasing a powerful sorcerer in order to stay alive. He helped the sorcerer get a book.

Review

I gave up reading this book at the 11% mark. I didn’t like the main character. I found him to be rude and weak. The story itself didn’t make much sense. Granted, I didn’t get far in the book. I did not enjoy the “snarky” System. I didn’t find it to be funny or humorous at all. I think the interactions between the main character and the other characters weren’t funny either. They were rude and waspish to each other. And I didn’t understand why the main character chose Lawful Evil as his alignment. He chose it because he…was going to do everything he could to survive? And he chose it because he…wasn’t going to travel to his brother’s birthday party because he had a lot of college homework, and wanted to get in a few hours of sleep after the homework so he could make it to a job interview in the morning in order to afford food…? Maybe that would be more Neutral Evil, but definitely not Lawful Evil. This book just didn’t hold my interest, so I was unable to finish it.
