Synopsis

Warning! This section contains spoilers, if you would like to avoid these spoilers, jump to the review below.

The story started with the main character meeting with an old friend. This friend was the type of person who would never meet with someone just to talk. It would only be because they needed something. The main character and his friend started talking, and the friend revealed he needed more people to compete in a massive VR tournament.

The main character agreed to help, and he entered the VR game. He traveled to meet with someone, and then he was outfitted with weapons. He then got onto a ship.

Review

I gave up trying to read this book at the 10% mark. The characters didn’t interest me, and I didn’t know what the point of the story was. I maybe didn’t get far enough in the book to discover that, but an author should at least drop some hints at the beginning of the book. The guy who recruited the main character kept saying he would tell the main character everything…eventually.

Personally, I do not enjoy LitRPG books that have no consequences for the main character. And that was what this book felt like. The main character got hurt or died in the game, but was immediately able to respawn. And he had no issues when logging out.

Another issue I had with the book was it would use both present and past tense interchangeably. Pick one, and stick with it.

I did try and skip forward a bit to see if any of the book interested me, but it didn’t.
